Omurga, hem ileri derecede sabit ve sa\u011flam, hem de hareketli olmas\u0131 gereken bir organd\u0131r. Bu esneklik, omur (vertebra) ad\u0131 verilen \u00e7ok say\u0131da k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck par\u00e7an\u0131n bir araya gelmesi ile sa\u011flanabilmi\u015ftir. \u0130nsanda toplam omur say\u0131s\u0131 33\u2019d\u00fcr. 7 boyun (servikal), 12 s\u0131rt (dorsal) ve 5 bel (lomber) omuru toplam 24 omur, omurgan\u0131n hareketli b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn\u00fc olu\u015fturur. Disk, kaps\u00fcle benzetebilece\u011fimiz bir d\u0131\u015f zar ile sar\u0131l\u0131d\u0131r (anulus fibrozis). \u0130\u00e7ini ise, jel benzeri bir madde ( n\u00fckleus pulpozus ) olu\u015fturur. Diskler vertebral son plaklar (diskin omurla birle\u015fti\u011fi tabaka) vas\u0131tas\u0131yla kemikle birle\u015fir.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Disklerin beslenmesi, subkondral (diskin hemen alt\u0131ndaki) kemikten vertebral son plaklardaki porlar (delik\u00e7ikler) yoluyla s\u0131zan s\u0131v\u0131larla olur. S\u0131v\u0131, dik duran insanda bas\u0131n\u00e7la g\u00fcn i\u00e7inde d\u0131\u015far\u0131ya \u00e7\u0131kar. Buna ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak, sabah ve ak\u015fam saatleri aras\u0131nda 1-2 santimlik bir boy fark\u0131 olu\u015fur. Sabahlar\u0131 dinlenip kalkan insan\u0131n boyu daha uzundur. Faset eklemlerde, kire\u00e7lenme ad\u0131 verilen eklem a\u015f\u0131nmalar\u0131 olu\u015fabilir ya da iltihabi romatizmalarda iltihap meydana gelebilir.
